Kōwhai Seeds

 We are learning all about seeds and how they grow. We went out to the toru kōwhai trees at the front of the school and collected some seeds in their pods.

What a storm....

 There was a very exciting storm this week. We could hear the rain on the roof, see rivers of water go past our door and see a waterfall come down from the roof of the new building... and best of all we had heaps of hail. When the storm died down we went outside and picked up hail, made it into balls and  threw it. Such fun!!

We also did an experiment with food colouring amd milk. We saw that the drops of dye didn't spread  the until we put in some liquid soap. We tried 3 different types of soap but dish detergent was best.

Maths Week

 This week was maths week. There were all sorts of maths challenges at school and at home.

Our buddy class took us out and about trying to find all the questions on the maths trail around the school.

Science experiment 

1. we looked at snowdrops and described their colour, petals, stems and the stamen
2. we put the snowdrops into water and 4 different coloured dyes - look what happened
